After Conan hosted his first Late Night in 1993, he published a review of his own performance in the New York Times. The first paragraph ended with, “Frankly, I was not impressed.”
The article went on to poke fun of his own inexperience and wrapped up with “As much as this writer would like to root for Mr. O’Brien, one can’t help but have grave doubts about his prospects.”
