We all know fish can’t fly, wait can they? At Washington University in St. Louis the men’s rowing team found out that flying fish were in fact a real thing. The men’s rowing team were recently attacked by Asian carp after they apparently “woke them up” during their early morning row practice. Benjamin Rosenbaum a junior at the school and a captain of the varsity team caught the whole fish attack on video.

The early AM practices are usually uneventful, especially on a Friday, but recent heavy rains and flooding may have caused more fish to migrate to this particular area. They are HUGE fish actually and they hurt. Rosenbaum said “there was a lot of panic and chaos.”

Asian carp are an extremely invasive species and have been known to be aggressive before. The Asian carps have been known to grow up to 100 pounds which can certainly cause some serious damage.

So lesson learned, watch out for flying fish.
